by Ben Cornelius 1 year agoJust a reminder that we will have a road map presentation next week on Wednesday by SDL for 90 minutes from 9-10:30 am Pacific time.
This is a web-only presentation and we will not also have a conference room in San Jose for this session.
Cheers,

by Ben Cornelius 2 years agoHi there,
just a friendly reminder that Lionbridge will be providing us with a presentation tomorrow at 8:30 am Pacific at the Adobe campus in San Jose. (details in the event listing and below)
This is the last technology presentation I have scheduled. Tex and I would like to have a group meeting next month and not a technology presentation.
I will send out an invite to a group meeting for October as well as an informal 'get together' for members who may be attending Loc World in Silicon Valley in October. If there are any preferences on a date for this, please let us know.
Cheers,
Ben -
by Ben Cornelius 2 years agoHello everyone,
I am forwarding this email from Ray Flournoy inviting those who are interested
to attend a meeting for a newly forming users group centered around Machine
Translation. I have uploaded the attachment Ray refers to.
Ray's email address is flournoy@adobe.com for those interested in RSVP'ing to
the initial meeting.
Apologies for those outside the California Bay Area - this group will meet in
person on a more informal basis than the GMS group.
---
Hello all,
I wanted to let you know about a new group that the Translation Technology team
here at Adobe has had a hand in creating: the Bay Area Machine Translation
Users Group (BAMTUG).
This was partly inspired by the GMS users groups that Ben Cornelius has been
managing to great success for a while now, and it is intended as a more informal
way to gather people involved in the creation and use of MT technology, to share
experiences and advice. We weren't looking for a replacement for the various
national and international MT organizations, but rather, we were looking for a
way for people to find out how others are integrating and using MT technology in
real-world situations. Thus, we wanted a "Users Group" instead of a research
group, and BAMTUG was born.
Attached is an announcement of the kick-off meeting, which will be held on
Adobe's SJ campus on 10/6. The meeting will feature two short presentations
about using MT in commercial localization, followed by a discussion time. (Full
disclosure: The second speaker is me, delivering a shorter version of the Flex
talk that I recently delivered at MT Summit.) In addition to Q&A about the
presentations, I hope that during the discussion time we can talk about what
people would like to see in the group – what topics are of interest and what
time/location/format is most useful and convenient.
So far I've received RSVPs from MT vendors, other MT consumers like Adobe,
some globalization consultants, and a few MT-related start-ups.
Please feel free to forward, and also let me know if you have any questions or
comments.
Many thanks!
